Dear Friends,

A few months ago, our evangelist, Omer, was visiting in the village of Ravine.  He had spent some time at the Ravine school and then went throughout the village to meet parents and share Jesus with them.  As he approached a run-down mud hut, he heard a child crying.  He looked in the one room hut and saw a boy between two and three years old.  The boy was alone so Omer stayed and cared for him until the mother came home.  She had been to the market, trying to sell some produce in order to earn a meager living for herself and her son.  She did not have a husband and was struggling to care for the little boy.

Omer was touched by the need of this little family and started to visit them regularly.  Norius, the director of our school ministry, has accompanied Omer several times and together they are sharing physical and spiritual food with this young mother.  Omer has worked closely with the little boy and has recently reported that the boy has learned to walk.

We are excited about Omer’s ministry.  Our goal is for him to reach out into the homes of each of our school children and share the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ with children and parents.  Food and education are opening the door to presenting the life giving food to these physically and spiritually hungry people.

The school feeding program has begun.  During the month of March, we started feeding in one school at a time until all the school children are now being fed a hot meal every day.  Your generosity has allowed us to meet the financial budget to accomplish this.  We thank God for each of you who has given toward this vital ministry of feeding poor and hungry children.

We have also had a tremendous outpouring of the donation of articles.  Thank you so much!!  We would like to thank you each individually but since we don’t know who all gave, please accept this as a sincere thanks from us!  God has blessed this ministry so much — we are in awe of His goodness.  He is using each of you to help meet so many needs.

After several months of praying, Pastor Diogene’s wife, Leonette, has received a VISA to travel to the states.  Because of several complications, they had specifically prayed that the interviewer would not ask too many difficult questions.  That’s exactly the way it happened!  The interviewer asked very few questions, hurried through the process, and issued Leonette a five year VISA.  Many of you have prayed concerning this VISA  —  Pastor Diogene and Leonette thank you for those prayers.

Jesus said in Matthew 25:35ff, “For I was hungry, and you gave Me something to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me drink; — naked, and you clothed me; sick and you visited me.”  Then the people asked Jesus when they had done all this.  His answer in verse 40, “Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it to one of these brothers on Mine, even the least of them, you did it to Me.”

Thank you for touching Jesus’ heart by sharing clothing, money for food, and so many other things with the truly needy of Haiti.  Partnering with you in this ministry is surely a blessing to us.

Serving our Lord together,

Bernie & Sheryl Bovenkamp
