| Dear Friends, Ti Famn was born in 1926 in the village of Biscaille. Her name is translated “little lady”. We don’t know if this name was given at birth or became a later nick name because she was a “little lady”. Ti Famn died on March 5 of this year, so she lived to be 100 years old. It is quite amazing that anyone could live 100 years in a country so burdened with so much sickness and very little healthcare. But in God’s sovereign plan, Ti Famn lived long enough to be a recipient of Starfish Ministries’ Elderly Care. Biscaille is one of our remote villages, accessible only by hiking about one hour above Tricotte. We have a school and church in Biscaille. We have had evangelistic outreach in Biscaille. But it wasn’t until Ti Famn recently had no one to take care of her that Philius and his Elderly Ministry team heard about Ti Famn’s need, and they began to support her with food and other essentials. Along with the physical food, they shared the good news of Jesus Christ and fed Ti Famn’s greatest need, and she responded! After virtually her entire life of embracing voodooism, Ti Famn repented of her sin and responded to the Savior’s invitation. What a great day it was on March 5, 2026, when Ti Famn came into the presence of Jesus and worshipped Him at His feet. I look forward to the day when I meet Jesus and then see the little lady and we lift our voices together and sing, “Glory to God in the Highest!” What a day that will be!! “There will be no sorrow there, no more burdens to bear, no more sickness, no more pain, and no more parting over there. And forever I will be, with the one who died for me. What a day! Glorious day, that will be.” I found myself singing this song as I was writing this account of Ti Famn. In the sorry, sinful world all around us, it is so good to hear about God’s working in needy lives. We are very grateful for you who help to make this possible with your prayers and financial gifts. God is using us together with our Haitian leadership to make a difference in needy lives like Ti-Famn. Praise God!! I asked Daniel to share his thoughts on life in Haiti today. Here it is: We suffer from natural disasters such as earthquakes and hurricanes, but we stand. We suffer from the government’s indifference, but we find a way to survive. Our main roads have been closed to private cars for five years, but we travel anyway despite the danger. Our airport in Port-au-prince has been closed since November of 2024. They don’t listen to our complaints, but we still travel. They kill teachers and students alike, but schools still operate. They kidnap, but people still walk the streets. Sometimes it seems as if God has forgotten about us, but we still trust Him since He knows what’s best for our lives. Even when we lose what little we had, God always uses people like you to help us. As many times as we have fallen down, we get back on our feet. We thank God all the time knowing that things could have been worse without His strong arms holding us. There will come a day when real peace will come. In the meantime, we cling to the peace given to us by our Lord Jesus Christ. And this is my prayer for you all: Ephesians 3:16-19 as Paul wrote to the Ephesians. “I pray that out of God’s glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” We thank God for you, Bernie, Sheryl & Philip |
