Dear Friends,

I Thessalonians 5:18 tells us that we should “in everything give thanks; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” We do have so much for which to be thankful. God has “blessed us with every spiritual blessing” (Ephesians 1:3) and our hearts are filled with gratitude. As we consider God’s work in our lives, in the ministry that He has called us to and your faithful support and partnership, we are overwhelmed. Thank you for being such an important part of Starfish Ministries.

I spent a few days in Haiti during October. We worked on some of the details concerning container shipments. Good progress has been made. We are partnering with Childcare International with some food shipments. Starfish Ministries has received the donation of 600 cases of Vitameal. That’s almost 20,000 pounds of food. This nutritious food source will supplement our school feeding program and be used for some orphanage meals. We will also use a small amount of the Vitameal to help feed some of the hungry in the churches. We trust that God will use this means to reach beyond the empty stomachs and into searching souls as well.

We’ll also be sharing in a container full of raisins in a few weeks. I hope the kids of Haiti like raisins since our share will be 13,000 pounds.

The container you have been so generously helping to fill with your donations will be shipped toward the end of November. Most of the details have been worked out for this shipment. We could still use another six used world globes and if you have other items we previously listed and haven’t brought them, you still have a couple of weeks. Thanks again for all those efforts.

We are excited about our website. Thanks goes to our nephew and niece, Aaron and Dawn Meyers from the Seattle area, who have been working on the site for the past several weeks. The new information is now up and we are so pleased. We encourage you to check it out at www.starfishministries.org. We also now have the ability to send this newsletter via e-mail. If you would like to receive future newsletters by e-mail instead of by postal mail please let us know. You can send us your e-mail address at starfish@starfishministries.org. If you have any suggestions or comments concerning the website please let us know.  We are also interested in any pictures that you think might enhance the website.

A team of 23 from North County Christ the King Church in Lynden leaves for Haiti on November 9 and returns November 18. We would appreciate your prayers as we travel and minister in Bible schools, evangelistic crusades, leadership seminars, construction projects and the distribution of clothing and other items to the orphans.

Each day in the Tricotte village we will also be testing eyes with our Retinomax equipment. Thank you for your help in collecting used prescription glasses. This will be an ongoing need so we’d appreciate it if you would pass on the word and help make a difference in lives as they are fitted with needed glasses.

Thanks again for partnering with us in this ministry. Your support is making a tremendous difference in needy lives.

Serving the Lord together,

Bernie & Sheryl Bovenkamp
