I’VE GOT SO MUCH TO THANK HIM FOR,
SO MUCH TO PRAISE HIM FOR,
YOU SEE – HE HAS BEEN SO GOOD TO ME.
AND WHEN I THINK OF WHAT HE’S DONE
AND WHERE HE’S BROUGHT ME FROM
I’VE GOT SO MUCH TO THANK HIM FOR. You can listen to this on you-tube – Detty Sisters
This song, “So Much to Thank Him For,” is so true as we think of what God is doing in our lives and in Haiti. And as we consider Thanksgiving in a few weeks, I was drawn to these words. In light of Starfish Ministries almost 23 years of serving in Haiti, we do have so much to thank God for and so much to praise Him for. You see He has been so good to us. When we think of what He’s done and where He has brought us from – O how much we do have to thank Him for.
From time to time I like to think back to our beginnings with those first 27 children in the orphanage in 1998. We prayed and met their needs and now several of them have completed their education and are working and serving. We thank God for His work in their lives. Today in the orphanage there are 60 more children who have a great start and opportunity to reach their full potential and make a difference in Haiti.
In our school ministry we have had the opportunity to touch the lives of thousands of children with a good education while they were fed a hot meal each day. And most importantly they heard the gospel of Jesus Christ and many would respond to the invitation to follow Him. Thank You, Lord!
Through evangelistic crusades and church planting ministry, many lives have turned away from the darkness of following Satan and voodoo and have turned toward the light of Jesus. O we do have so much to thank Him for.
I am particularly thankful for our Haitian director, Daniel. During the past year or so Doug and I have not been able to travel to Haiti due to unrest in Haiti and Covid-19. But the ministry goes on under Daniel’s very capable leadership. Just this past week Daniel told me that one of our pastors came to him with a burden for 15 families in his church who were needing help. The pastor was hoping and inquiring whether Starfish Ministries would support them on a monthly basis. In Daniel’s wisdom he immediately said, “No.” He went on to encourage the pastor to do some biblical teaching on giving since there are some 50 families in that church who are employed through Starfish Ministries programs and have the means to support their needy church family. He did and Daniel reported that the people responded beyond his expectation. We could go on and on because we do Have So Much More to Thank Him for!
And we are so thankful for you – our partners in ministry. Your prayer and financial support continue to encourage us as we together touch the lives of the most needy of the world. Again this year we have a Christmas Giving List. Along with all the other items of need we are focusing on housing for “near homeless” people. Daniel recently told me that throughout our ministry area he sees so many houses that either need significant repair or needs to be replaced. Leaky thatched-roofs and dirt/mud floors are prevalent – our goal is to help as many as possible. Thank you for your part in this. Have a Great Thanksgiving!
Serving the Lord together,
