Doug called at about 1:00 PM today from the Dominican Republic. The Churches of Dominican Republic have donated several truckloads of 1/2 liter bottles of water and have made it available for the churches of Haiti if they could arrange delivery. So Doug jumped in our 1-ton truck, our Haitian driver Joe jumped in the larger Hino truck and set off for the D.R. They were loading up as Doug and I spoke. What a blessing this water is — we will be distributing it along with the food distribution tomorrow.
Doug also reported that the gas/diesel situation has become much better. When he pulled up to a gas station this morning there were three tankard trucks of fuel unloading. So within a few minutes he was filled up and on his way. A couple of days ago that would have taken an hour or more. So we praise God for freeing up fuel!
Tomorrow Doug will begin taking photos of some of our homeless families. We are praying that God would provide sponsors for 180 families. The sponsorship will be for $50.00 or $100.00 per month depending on the size of the family. Our plan is for the sponsor to make a six month commitment so that the needy family will have support during this most crucial time. Then they can again begin to support themselves.
Please keep up the praying — God is working out so many details! GOD IS SO GOOD!
One additional prayer request right now — we are working with several different people and agencies to try to get a container of vegetable soup mix from The Gleaners in Abbotsford, BC, Canada, into Haiti within a few days. Please pray with us that God will work out all the little details. Pray for an associate of Doug named Chris who is working hard to put together this delivery.
Thank you so much for all of your encourgement, prayers and support!
