An earthquake of 7.0 magnitude struck Haiti on Tuesday at 1:53pm local time. It was centered approximately 10 miles southwest of Port-au-Prince.
We haven’t yet been able to reach Pastor Diogene or any of our other brothers and sisters in the country. As soon as we do, we will post any updates here.
Most of our ministry in Haiti is centered around Tricotte and the surrounding region and also the village of Bethel. This includes our orphanage and all of our schools. Both of these areas are far enough from Port-au-Prince that there is not likely to have been damage. Pastor Diogene does have a church, a small special-needs orphanage, and other ministries in Port-au-Prince. And several of the older children we support are in Port-au-Prince continuing their education.
Pray with us for Pastor Diogene and the others, along with all those affected by this disaster.
Bernie will be leaving tomorrow (Wednesday) evening for Haiti (a trip that has been planned for some time).
Serving the Lord together,
Bernie, Sheryl & Philip Bovenkamp
