Dear Friends,

Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His love endures forever.  -Psalm 107:1

Another Thanksgiving season is upon us!  And we have so much to be thankful for – God has faithfully provided all that we need to accomplish His purposes in Haiti!  He has used you to help make that happen to we thank Him for your partnership with us as you support through prayer and finances.

Last week the container shipped from Canada arrived in Haiti.  This week we are loading one in Lynden that will arrive in Haiti in December.  Many of you have donated clothes, shoes, school supplies, hygiene products, baby supplies and many other items that are going in this container – thank you so much!

The container from Canada has a lot of materials that will be used to finish the medical clinic in Tricotte.  Cabinets, shelving units, desks, file cabinets, exam tables and many other items that, when installed, will bring the construction phase of the project to a close.  We are excited about completing this phase and then beginning to offer medical care for the area.  And again, we trust that God will use this ministry to advance His Kingdom.

A large sound system is also in this container.  We will be using the system to enhance our evangelistic crusades and large combined church gatherings.  Having good and loud sound projection at the crusades really helps to draw the people and that’s the goal – to see many come, hear the gospel and respond as God’s Word penetrates spiritually needy hearts.

S0 we are looking forward to the containers clearing customs without problems and being able to launch the medical ministry and more effectively present the gospel with the new sound system.

Recently we have experienced a difficult situation in the Tricotte area.  One of our Haitian staff members has been falsely accused of things with the intent to harm him personally and the ministry as well.  The enemies of the gospel seem to be pushing back against what God is accomplishing and will accomplish as a result of the medical ministry and use of the new sound system.  However we believe as Joseph told his brothers in Genesis 50:20, “You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives.”  And in Romans 8:28, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.”

We really appreciate your prayers and ask that you specifically include the following in your praying.

  • Speedy customs clearing for containers at reasonable costs.
  • Safety for our Haitian workers and wisdom for Daniel as he deals with the above situation.
  • Three teams that will be traveling to Haiti in November – Birthing attendant training, farming fact-finding group & well drilling team.
  • That God will use these trips to accomplish much in lives of team members as well as in the lives of the Haitians who will be served.

We have put together a Christmas list again this year.  If you would like, you can give Bibles or chickens or even a home (and a few other things, too!) to a needy Haitian family.  You can find the Christmas list here.  Have a blessed Thanksgiving!!

Serving the Lord together,

Bernie, Sheryl & Philip Bovenkamp
